The Band is coming to the West End!

So I’m only a few blogs in and have already gone off the travel topic but I’m filing this under things to do in London this Christmas so I think I can get away with it.

If you are planning a trip to London at the end of the year and are looking for a West End show to see then look no further than The Band.

Featuring the music of Take That, The Band tells the story of five 16 year old fangirls who reunite 25 years later and try to meet the band after one of them wins a competition to a concert in Prague.

Sounds a bit familiar if I’m honest…

However, it’s not just about Take That. The show features a fabulous female cast who really capture what is like to grow up with a band. Five to Five, winners of BBC’s Let it Shine provide the backdrop to the story, giving all the Take That hits you know (and love) a new lease of life. If I were 20 years younger I’d probably be a big fan :o)

The Band West End Launch

Earlier this week I was lucky enough attend a Q&A with the cast and producers (thanks to my friend!) as part of the show’s West End launch.

After picking up the coveted wristbands we made our way to the Theatre Royal, Haymarket. However before heading inside to take our seats there was one surprise. The cast and Take That (!) on the roof of the theatre performing a traffic stopping medley of hits featured in the show.

After the performance we headed into the theatre for a Q&A and to thaw out (honestly have never been so cold). Questions had been pre submitted via Twitter and a few lucky fans were picked to ask their questions in person.

Question ranged from who was the cast’s favourite band was when they were growing up to their annoying habits to what inspires them to bring their character to life night after night.

Sadly the Q&A seemed to fly by in just a few minutes (was probably around 20-25 minutes) and before I knew it was back out into the bitterly cold air of London’s theatre land.

The Band runs at the Theatre Royal Haymarket from 1 December 2018 to 12 January 2019 – just 50 performances!  The tour was the fast selling of all time so tickets won’t be hanging around for long. Make sure you don’t miss out!  You can buy tickets here…
